A uniform Schengen (short-stay) visa allows its holder to stay in the Schengen Area for the duration specified in the visa, which cannot be longer than 90 days. It is issued for one entry, two entries or multiple entries or as an airport transit visa.

All citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran are obliged to hold a visa for travelling to the Schengen Area.

You may apply for a Schengen visa from the Czech Embassy if:

• You plan to travel only to the Czech Republic
• If travelling to more Schengen countries and the Czech Republic is the main purpose of your travel (e.g. conference participation)
• If travelling to more Schengen countries with the same number of days in each destination and the Czech Republic is the first visited country (e.g. 3 days in Czech Rep, 3 days in Germany, 3 days in France)

Do not apply for a Schengen visa from the Czech Embassy if:

• You do not intend to visit the Czech Republic
• Czech Republic is not the main purpose of your travel
• You plan to stay in a different Schengen country for more days than in the Czech Republic
• If Czech Republic is not the first to enter if travelling to more Schengen countries with the same number of days in each destination

The duration of the Schengen (short-stay) visa is determined by the required length of stay and the supporting documents

All submitted documents have to be for stay for maximum of 90 days. If some documents show that the intended stay is longer than 90 days the visa application will be rejected.

Requirements

For submitting a visa application, it is necessary to have all necessary documents. The harmonized list of documents needed for each type of visa for Iranian citizens can be found here (under Annex I). Please make sure that all documents are officially translated into English. Documents presented only in Farsi will not be accepted.

The Embassy does not return any of the submitted documents. If you wish to submit an original document that you would like to keep (eg. Police invitation letter), please submit a copy alongside the original. The original document will be returned after the visa process is finalized.

Fake or forged documents will not be returned.

Appointment

The Embassy of Czech Republic in Tehran outsources the submission of Schengen visa application to the VFS Global Company. To set up an appointment, please follow the instructions in the Appointment system section.

The application may be submitted up to six months before the trip. The decision process typically takes 10 – 15 days but may be prolonged up to 45 days in exceptional situations. Generally, applications with date of travel less than 15 days since submission are not accepted without proper explanation. In case they are accepted it is possible they will not be decided on in time.

90/180 rule

The short-term stay in the Schengen Area cannot exceed 90 days within 180 days. If the length of stay has reached 90 days, it is required to leave the Schengen Area. It is the responsibility of the visitor to count the days and not to exceed the allowed number of days. In case of multiple entries, the accumulated amount of days can be determined by the entry/exit stamps in the passport.
