Pianist Bohumír Stehlík in Sweden

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm was honored to participate in a short Swedish tour of Czech pianist Bohumír Stehlík, during which he visited four Swedish cities and present Czech music to local churches. He played works by composers such as Leoš Janáček and Josef Suk, complemented by his own works in concerts under the title En Tjeckisk saga (Czech Saga).

Bohumír Stehlík (*1990, Prague) is one of the leading pianists of the younger generation. His strengths are both instrumental skill and unusual musical expressiveness. He regularly performs as a soloist and in chamber concerts, and is a member of the international chamber ensemble Ensemble D'Accord and the Lieder Society. In addition to his concert activities, he cooperates with Czech Radio, is the artistic director of the classical branch of the Povaleč Festival in Valè near Karlovy Vary and teaches at the D'Accord Academy masterclasses.

After a year of study at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, he moved to Sweden, where he studied at the Edsberg Institute of Music under the Royal College of Music in Stockholm under Professor Mats Widlund. He was also awarded scholarships from the Swedish Royal Academy of Music, a Yamaha scholarship, among others. In addition, he has taught at the Ingesund Academy of Music at Karlstad University in Sweden. He currently teaches at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts in Brno.
